Leading a group can be fun and rewarding. Ideas from new members are welcome. Some group leaders need to be knowledgeable in the subject, but in many cases leaders can be ‘facilitators’ with an interest in the subject and the willingness to organise a group. Don't let the inability to meet in your own home put you off, there are other options.
Groups can be ongoing or for a limited period and can start at any time of the year. If you are interested please contact the groups co-ordinator (see Committee). For more information about what's involved, read the Information for Group Leaders. This is a password-protected file. To open it, you need the password which is shared with Members of Merton u3a.
Groups
Groups usually meet fortnightly or monthly. Some groups close for a few weeks over the summer.
Groups mostly meet in members' homes and are limited in size by the room available. Some of the larger groups meet in Colliers Wood Community Centre and Drake House, St George's Road in Central Wimbledon. Nearly all activities are in the daytime.
Everyone attending a group must be a U3A member otherwise the insurance we have is invalid for that group, even for those who are members. The only exception is that non-members may attend once or at most twice as a 'taster' session.
